Sports Injuries and Sprains

Sports injuries or soft tissue trauma may involve any number of different structures which comprise the make up of what is known as our musculo-skeletal system.

Most of the time the injuries involve that of tendons, muscles or ligaments.

These are the structures that make up our construction giving us our human form along with our capabilities of action and movement.

Occasionally sports injuries may involve some degree of bone trauma often in the form of bruising. Sprains of soft tissue may occur with any joint however the most common are the knee, ankle, shoulder and wrist.

That’s because these joints are often having to deal with the brunt of trauma in falls or contact sports. With acute sports injuries never apply heat, always instigate the RICE regime (REST, ICE, COMPRESSION, ELEVATION) for the initial couple of days post injury then seek further physical therapy treatment to advance you recovery.
