Back Pain and Sciatica

Lower back pain may or may not be associated with referred leg pain.

Most cases of lower back pain are the result of a bulging disc in the lumbar spine which can be seen by CT or MRI scans.

X-Rays are not able to allow us to see disc bulges.

It’s the compression of a nerve in the lower lumbar spine which is most often caused by a bulging disc that will cause leg pain that is called sciatica.

Along with the leg pain of sciatica there may well be some numbness, pins & needles or burning sensation.

Studies have shown that over the course of 12 months 80% of disc bulges are naturally reabsorbed by the body provided that appropriate physical treatment is instigate.
